Financial Report

Funding Sources

The Cátedra China Foundation, created and founded by a person committed to complying with current legislation, is an independent and autonomous institution focused on to strengthen and finance relations with China, as well as to support the activities of the China Chair Association. This initiative was born from a personal and family decision by its founder, and includes the participation of Ms. Susan Muñoz on its Board of Trustees.

The Foundation’s funding comes from the founder, several family members, and other trustees, all of whom are chosen within the numerical limits established by law. These trustees have been selected for their close ties to the China Chair and their transversal and academic careers. Furthermore, they possess the financial capacity and will to cover the founding endowment required by law. It is crucial to note that these trustees also have the necessary time available to govern the Foundation in accordance with legal requirements.

As an institution, it is open to participation and capital donations from a broad group of collaborators and advisors, as well as from the “honorary trustees.” We are willing to participate with your collaboration and donations of any amount, at least symbolic, in addition to the financial benefit of some of the valuables donated by Ms. Paquita López.

The Foundation is established before a notary, completing the legal procedures and in accordance with the suggestions of the Protectorate of Foundations, an agency of the Ministry of the Interior, which regulates and controls foundations. Its income, expenses, and annual accounting are under the corporate responsibility of the trustees. I wanted to establish it with the same name, “Fundación Cátedra China,” in accordance with the formal authorization of the Board of Directors and for the same purposes, as set forth in the Statutes of the Cátedra China Foundation itself.

Activities and Projects

The total capital of the Foundation is used to freely finance and expand the activities and projects of the Cátedra China Foundation itself, as well as some of the activities of Cátedra China, to better fulfill its purposes and, at the same time, ensure its unlimited continuation.

The Cátedra China Foundation has an endowment capital, duly registered with a notary, designated for the achievement of its purposes. In accordance with current regulations, this capital must be replenished through voluntary donations from the Association’s members, as well as from family members and supporters committed to the Foundation’s mission.

The Foundation itself is responsible for continuously collecting donations, leveraging its organizational structure for this purpose. Furthermore, corporate sponsorship is actively sought, facilitated by the legal standing of Foundations and the tax benefits provided by law for this type of entity. This comprehensive approach guarantees a sustainable source of funding, allowing the Foundation to fulfill its objectives and continue its work for the benefit of society.
